St. Aidan's Summer Concert July 25

On Wednesday, July 25, at 7:30pm, the Mosaic Trio, led by NBSO cellist Peter Zay, will present a summer concert at St. Aidan’s Chapel, 185 Smith Neck Road, South Dartmouth, MA 02748. This small summer chapel, nestled behind a stone wall and surrounded by trees and gardens, is the perfect setting for an evening of beautiful music. Suggested donation is $20 at the door.

The Mosaic Trio: The Mosaic Trio features Lu Sun on violin, Pat Daly Vance on viola, and Peter Zay on cello.

Lu Sun began her violin studies at the age of seven in Beijing, China and traveled alone to the United States at the age of twelve. She received a full scholarship to study at the Crowden School in Berkeley, California. She performed for Aaron Copland at the age of fourteen and made her solo debut with the San Francisco Symphony at the age of seventeen. Recently, Lu was a member of the opera orchestra at the Opera House in Valencia, Spain, under the direction of Lorin Maazel. She currently plays in the Hartford Symphony, Springfield Symphony, and the Sarasota Opera Orchestra. She earned her Bachelor of Music from Indiana University, and has studied with the Tokyo String Quartet and the Cleveland Quartet.

Patricia Vance has performed as a violist with the Hartford Symphony for 40 years. She completed her Bachelor of Music at the Eastman School of Music and received her Masters in Viola Performance at the Juilliard School, as a student of Lillian Fuchs. She was a member of the Aspen Festival Orchestra, the Rochester Philharmonic, and the Tanglewood Music Center. Pat studied chamber music performance with Gunther Schuller, Arthur Balsam, Joseph Fuchs, and Paul Zukovsky. She taught in the Connecticut public school string programs in Farmington, West Hartford, and Simsbury and at the Botelle School in Norfolk. Most recently, she was Director of the Hartford Magnet Trinity School Academy Orchestra, where she established a new string program combining inner city and suburban students.

Peter Zay is the principal cellist of the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra and a member of the New Bedford and Hartford Symphony Orchestras. He has performed with the Boston Lyric Opera, the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston, the Boston Modern Orchestra, and he has toured internationally with the American Sinfonietta. As a chamber musician, Peter performs regularly as a member of the New World Trio. He has been an invited guest artist for annual concerts with the Saravasti String Quartet in Murcia, Spain, and he has performed frequently on the Sunday Serenades Concert Series at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT. He has appeared at the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival, the Taos Chamber Music Festival, the International Musical Arts Institute and the Aspen, Bellingham and Wintergreen Festivals of Music. He earned his Bachelor of Music at the Hartt School and his Masters at the Manhattan School of Music. He studied with members of the American, Emerson, and Muir Quartets, and the Beaux Arts Trio.
