New Bedford Symphony Youth Orchestras

The New Bedford Symphony Youth Orchestras program was established in 2008 under the auspices of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra for students from pre-school beginners to advanced college players. The Youth Orchestras comprise five ensembles and a chamber music program under the NBSYO umbrella: the Symphony Orchestra, the Repertory Orchestra, the Debut Orchestra, Preparatory String Ensemble and Poco Strings. Rehearsals for all orchestras are held at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts. Auditions are held in the fall for the four larger orchestra ensembles; no audition is required for the Poco Strings or chamber music programs.

Students will receive a weekly hour-long coaching session tailored to each member’s level coupled with performance opportunities in the community, including prior to NBSO concerts.
