NBSO Classical Coffee video series

Our Classical Coffee video series focuses on the musical program of our upcoming concert, and each day of the series brings you a video that is just long enough to watch with your morning cup of coffee. Each program begins with a brief talk by Music Director David MacKenzie, followed by a music clip.

Our Educational Mission

While the image of a symphony concert hall in a major city may evoke an elitist image in the minds of some, the reality is that classical music is a universal form of creative expression that is especially appealing to young children of all ethnic, racial and socio-economic backgrounds. Any child can love music.

The NBSO’s music education programs benefit all children and have an especially strong presence in New Bedford and Fall River, as well as in other communities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts including Dartmouth, Westport, Fairhaven, Mattapoisett, Marion, Acushnet, Wareham, Rochester, Bourne, Carver, Berkley, East Bridgewater, Somerset, Middleboro, South Yarmouth, Centerville, Lakeville, and Plymouth.

The NBSO’s music education programs ensure that all students know that classical music exists, that it is fun, and that it can be a part of their lives. This opens the way for children to experience the joy of creative expressions, as well as the extensively documented benefits music programs have on children’s personal development and academic achievement.
