Cycle for the Symphony: The Tour de Beethoven

Thanks to all who came out for the "Tour de Marion" portion of Cycle for the Symphony!

NBSO President Dave Prentiss is riding a 150 mile "Tour de Beethoven" to celebrate the success of the NBSO’s  $150,000 Challenge Gift Campaign and to raise awareness about the importance of music education.

The bike ride will take place on August 13th (rain date: August 14) and visit 28 of the 47 communities in and around the South Coast served by NBSO educational programs and concerts.  See details of the route below.

At 12 noon all are welcome to join Dave in the “Tour de Marion”—a short ride through Marion village starting at Uncle Jon’s Coffee parking lot.

Dave has an Ipod speaker system on his bike and his “Tour de Beethoven” playlist will consist of his favorite NBSO performances over the last five years.  See the playlist below.

The Route:

  • Start at 6am at Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, 684 Purchase Street, New Bedford
  • West through Dartmouth, Westport, Fall River, Swansea, Somerset, Rehoboth, and Seekonk
  • North to Attleboro then southeast through Taunton, Dighton, Assonet, Berkley, Freetown, E. Freetown, Rochester Acushnet, and Fairhaven
  • East through Mattapoisett and Marion
  • At approximately 12 noon Dave will arrive at Uncle Jon’s Coffee in Marion for lunch.  NBSO trustees and friends will join Dave for a “Tour de Marion” – a short ride through    Marion village – all are welcome to join in!
  • East to Wareham and then north through Carver, Plympton, Halifax and Bridgewater
  • South through Raynham, Middleboro, Lakeville and back to New Bedford
  • Finish around 5:30pm at Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, 150.2 miles
