The versatile soprano is an artist whose consummate skills as both a singer and an actress have made her highly visible in opera, oratorio and as soloist with symphony orchestras. The beauty of her voice and intelligent artistry have also made her a much sought after artist for both the standard repertoire and new works. In 2003, Ms. McVey was a finalist in the New England Regional Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and was heard on WGBH, Boston.
Her recent engagements include Lisette in La Rondine with Opera Tampa, Violetta in La Traviata with the Pioneer Valley Symphony, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor with Salt Marsh Opera and Treasure Coast Opera (with Maestro Anton Coppola), a production of Die Fledermaus with Jacksonville Lyric Opera, productions of Candide and Pirates of Penzance with Light Opera Oklahoma, and productions of La Cenerentola and Turandot with Opera Columbus.
She has sung leading roles with Opera Tampa, Opera Columbus, Lake George Opera Festival, Jacksonville Lyric Opera, Treasure Coast Opera, Opera Naples, Light Opera Oklahoma, Ocean State Lyric Opera, the Salt Marsh Opera Company, Boston Academy of Music, Rhode Island Philharmonic, and Opera Providence, and she traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for a production of Carmen.
In June 2006 Ms. McVey made her Carnegie Hall debut singing Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass. She has appeared in Opera Galas with the Hartford Festival Orchestra and Opera Naples, sung with Copley Chamber Players in Miami, was soloist for Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the New Bedford Symphony, Carmina Burana and Bachianas Brasileiras No.5 for soprano and eight cellos with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, and the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra, sang a Gilbert & Sullivan Revue with Lake George Opera Festival, the Four Last Songs of Strauss
She has also appeared as soloist with the Florida West Coast Symphony, the Albany Symphony, the Pioneer Valley Symphony, the Eastern Connecticut Symphony, the Longwood Symphony, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, and the Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra, among others.
